PRP treatment for hair fall

                                                     PRP treatment

PRP treatment is an abbreviation for platelet-rich plasma treatment.

The basic science behind PRP treatment

Our blood is composed of many constituents like red blood cells white blood cells platelets water proteins and a lot of other ingredients. Out of these platelets are of utmost importance. platelets are the best healing agents in the body whenever there is some kind of injury in the body and there is steering up of blood vessels, platelets come into play. At the site of blood vessel tear platelets to aggregate in large numbers and start releasing special Chemicals called cytokines. These cytokines in turn attract healing cells at that site. Finally, the healing cells the creator repair factory around the wound and there is tissue repair. Now while doing PRP we are artificially collecting a large number of platelets from the circulating blood and the concentrated mixture of the platelets is injected at the level of hair roots. Along with these injections, we do create find injury with the help of Derma Roller. Artificial injury combined with a higher level of platelets at the site of injection leads to a new collection of healing cells and making up of new blood vessels.

The new blood vessels manufactured during the process of this repair of artificial injury finally leads to increased blood volume flow to the scalp. And lastly increased blood flow brings in more nourishment leading to better growth of hair.

Indications of PRP treatment

  • In case of excessive hair fall. In case of hair fall due to any reason may it be telogen effluvium, decrease in multivitamin and multimineral levels of the body, male pattern baldness expression, and so on.
  • Initial stages of male pattern baldness. When the airline has started receding and hair fall can be noticed in excessive amounts, more than the routine.
  • In female pattern hair loss. This needs a special mention here. Female pattern hair loss is a very resistant kind of condition where most of the drugs do not show any kind of response. Application of minoxidil along with finasteride has been tried but in my experience but I have seen is that medications + PRP gives great relief in initial stages of female pattern hair loss. In advanced cases of female pattern hair loss definitely there is slowing of the process although complete recovery may not be possible.
  • Healing of scars. After hair transplant and also during a hair transplant, I personally prefer to do PRP treatment as it gives great healing importance to the recipient area. Graft take up rate it is increased to a great extent and there is very quick healing of the recipient area.

When PRP should not be done

In a case where hair loss has increased to an extent that more than 90% of the hair has turned to vellus. In layman’s language if no hair is visible on a bald spot then there are absolutely no chances of any kind of recovery with PRP treatment. PRP is only helpful in areas where hair are present although they may be weaker or lesser in number.

How is the procedure of PRP done

We take approximately 60 ml of whole blood which is processed in special chilled centrifuge machines for approximately 8 to 10 minutes. This process of rotation separates the whole blood into its various constituents. Platelets can be seen at the bottom of test tube in the form of a White pellet. We condense 60 ml of blood to approximately 80 ml of PRP solution. PRP solution is injected immediately into the scalp. Activator is added to the solution before injection

The time required to do PRP treatment

At the neograft hair transplant clinic, PRP treatment is done under the supervision of doctor Nav Vikram. The first step is a consultation. Dr. Vikram himself consults the client and once he is fully confident of getting results out of the PRP treatment only then the client is advised to undergo the process. On average almost 30 to 40 minutes are required to complete the process of PRP treatment.

Downtime after PRP treatment

At the neograft hair transplant clinic, we have invited the traditional process of PRP and our own version of PRP is called Neo PRP. There are few differences between traditional PRP and near me to list a few. We take almost 60ml of the whole blood and condensate to 8 ml of the PRP solution. We do not give any anesthesia or any nerve block during the PRP treatment. Rather the process of injecting neo-PRP into the scalp is in itself painless. There is absolutely no spelling no pain no redness and no rest required after new PRP. At best we can say that new PRP is a perfect lunchtime procedure where you can resume your routine activities as soon as possible.

How many sessions of PRP are required

The total number of PRP sessions will depend basically upon the level of weakness and the severity of hair fall being experienced by the clients. In more serious situations the number of Total PRP sessions may go upto 5. But routinely Dr Vikram advice approximately three sessions for the balance of growth in the scalp.

How painful is the procedure of PRP

The PRP treatment at the neograft hair transplant clinic is absolutely painless. During the process of injection, you may feel little pin pricking depending upon the pain threshold you have. Most of our clients are absolutely comfortable during the procedure and never resist to take for the sessions.
